Marissa Martinez was making her first trip to state, while teammate Gavin Martinez was back in Round Rock for the third time. Gavin finished 20th (16:46.71) to pace Coastal bend boys competitors in Class 3A. Marissa (12:39.41) was 34th in the girls race.
